1. Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using DocJoist ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

2. Service Description

DocJoist is a web-based application that provides tools for generating lien waiver documents. The Service offers:

  • Access to lien waiver templates for all 50 US states
  • Document generation and customization tools
  • PDF export functionality
  • Document storage and retrieval for signed-in users

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time with or without notice.

3. User Accounts

To use certain features of the Service, you must register for an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration
  • Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate and current
  • Maintain the security of your account credentials
  • Accept responsibility for all activities that occur under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or are inactive for extended periods.

4. Launch Access and Accounts

4.1 Free Launch Access

DocJoist is currently available free of charge during the launch period. We may introduce paid plans, feature limits, packaging changes, or billing terms in the future, but we will update these Terms before any such changes take effect.

4.2 Accounts and Saved Documents

You may use the core document generation features without creating an account. If you create an account, you may save and manage generated documents inside the Service. We may add, remove, or adjust account features, storage rules, or other usage policies over time.

5. Legal Disclaimer

IMPORTANT: DocJoist is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. The Service provides document generation tools only. You acknowledge and agree that:

  • Use of the Service does not create an attorney-client relationship
  • Documents generated should be reviewed by a qualified attorney
  • We make no guarantees about the legal sufficiency of any document
  • You are solely responsible for ensuring documents meet your specific legal needs
  • State laws vary and change frequently; templates may not reflect the most current law

6. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DOCJOIST AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

  • Your use or inability to use the Service
  • Any unauthorized access to or use of our servers
  • Any interruption or cessation of transmission to or from the Service
  • Any bugs, viruses, or other harmful code transmitted through the Service
  • Any errors or omissions in documents or content, or any loss or damage incurred as a result of using documents generated by the Service

IN NO EVENT SHALL OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL DAMAGES EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR $100, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by DocJoist and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. Documents you generate are yours to use, but the underlying templates and software remain our property.

8. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including breach of these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately.

You may stop using the Service or request account deletion at any time.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or through a notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Severability
